Teaching Artist: Ellen Minard, from Ellen’s 1/2 Pint Farm

In this 3 part class you will learn the basics of hand spinning yarn. We will start out learning how to draft the fiber and then spin it into yarn. Over the three classes you will learn how to ply and set your yarn.

We’ll briefly touch on parts of the wheel and wheel maintenance, some different ways to prepare fiber, different types of wool, and different techniques for spinning. There will be time for you to practice between classes and come back with questions!

All fibers and handouts are included in the supplies fee. Please bring your spinning wheel, if you have one. If you do not have a wheel, please contact craftstudies@craftstudies.org as we will have some wheels available to borrow.

$120, plus $30 materials fee paid directly to instructor at time of class
