Clay is more fun in pairs! Learn how to throw a basic pot on the wheel. No experience needed, just a willingness to have some fun and to get a little dirty! Sundays, July 12 - August 16, 2026 | 1 - 4P | 6 sessions | $350
This six-week intermediate/advanced pottery course will guide you through a series of challenges and projects designed to help you discover new ways to shape and decorate your pottery.
In Lessons 1 and 2, you’ll focus on throwing or hand-building a variety of forms to serve as your “test pieces” for the class. During these opening sessions, you’ll work on improving your efficiency and effectiveness in order to create more pieces, including sets.
In Lessons 3 and 4, you’ll explore several pre-fire decorative techniques and elements, including trimming, carving, altering, stamps and rollers, slip work, and resists. Lessons 5 and 6 will take you deeper into a range of techniques for using glazes, stains, and resists on pots of different shapes and sizes.
Please note: You’re welcome to use any of the clays that CraftStudies provides—as long as you’re willing to get muddy, have fun, and embrace the adventure. Whatever your current skill level, this course will help take your pottery practice to the next level.
